Privacy Policy
Has It Changed? helps visitors search for places on Google Maps, compare recent Google review signals, and optionally generate a short AI summary of visible written review comments. We do not offer user accounts, user profiles, payments, or a registered user database.
Information We Process
When you use the site, we may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, errors, search terms, search bounds, selected Google Place IDs, Google place details, and map interactions. When the map loads, we may use your IP address to estimate a rough starting area for the map. We do not ask for precise device location.
For selected places, we process public Google review information needed to show the current experience, including ratings, review counts, reviewer display names, written review text, relative or normalized review dates, and derived averages/counts for the selected review window. Review text may be translated by the review provider before it reaches the site.
If you use the AI summary button, the site sends the non-empty written comments that are currently displayed for the selected review window, plus basic place context such as place name, category, mode, and window label, to the summary API. The summary API sends that prompt to Amazon Bedrock. The current code defaults to Amazon Nova Lite.
How We Use Information
We use this information to operate the site, search for places, load Google Maps, retrieve place details, fetch and display review metrics, generate optional AI summaries, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, cache results, and maintain security.
Third-Party Services
The site relies on service providers that may receive information needed to provide the service, including AWS services such as CloudFront, Lambda, S3, and Amazon Bedrock; Google Maps Platform, Google Places, Google Maps JavaScript API, and Google Fonts; ip-api.com for approximate IP-based map centering; and review data providers such as Apify and DataForSEO. Google Maps features and content are provided by Google and are subject to Google's policies.
Google may collect information such as search terms, IP addresses, latitude/longitude coordinates, and map interactions when Google Maps features are used. See the Google Privacy Policy and Google Maps End User Additional Terms.
Cookies And Similar Technologies
We do not currently set first-party tracking cookies, use advertising pixels, or use analytics cookies or persistent browser storage for recently viewed places. The site uses in-memory browser state for the current page session. Google Maps, Google Fonts, and related Google services may use cookies or similar technologies under Google's policies. Google Maps loads as part of the main site experience.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the site, comply with law, protect the site, or respond to lawful requests. For example, search and place requests are sent to Google services; review requests are sent to review data providers; approximate location requests are sent to ip-api.com; and AI summary prompts are sent to Amazon Bedrock.
Retention
The app caches normalized review metrics and returned review snippets in AWS S3 so repeated requests are faster and cheaper. The current code treats review cache entries as fresh for about 12 hours, though cached objects may remain until overwritten or deleted through normal service operation. AI summaries are not saved by the frontend as a long-term user record; they live in the current page state while the panel is open. Operational logs may be kept as needed for security, troubleshooting, and service operation. Service providers may keep their own logs according to their policies.
International Visitors
The site is operated from the United States. If you access it from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and by providers in other locations.
Your Choices
You can use the site without creating an account. You may block cookies or scripts in your browser, but doing so may prevent Google Maps or other site features from working. You may contact us to ask about access, deletion, correction, or objection requests where applicable law gives you those rights.

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
